Okay, I hate to be the one who’s pedantic enough to do this, but… no one did number one, PARTICULARLY the Elizabethans, which who I think this is meant to represent. It was Pythagoras, the ancient Greek who first calculated the circumference of the Earth to within a few miles, and during the Elizabethan era the old Greek writings were the source of most learning (it was also where they got the ‘four humors’ theory so it wasn’t a perfect method). No one who had been to university would have claimed the Earth was flat.
