What do you NOT want to see in LGBT+ fiction and in LGBT+ characters? Heteosexual and cis gender characters being the oppressed group, abuse and murder, sterotypes, homophobic parents, bisexual erasure, token characters, promiscuous bisexuals, queer characters who “become” straight, sexualization and fetishization of characters, Coming Out stories, evil lesbians, angst, too much focus on sex, lack of personality, straight authors writing poorly, inaccuracies for transgender characters, racism and sexism.

What do you WANT to see in LGBT+ fiction and in LGBT+ characters? bisexual characters, women, more asexuality, people of color, body shape and weight variety, LGBT+ protagonists and lead characters, well developed characters, diverse LGBT+ issues, equality, happy endings, more LGBT+ characters.

The last graphic is a word cloud, with LGBT+ largest, then “want”, “gay”, “people”, “stories”, “bisexual”, “sexuality”, “fiction”, “lesbian”, “trans”, “asexual”, and a bunch of smaller words, like “represented”, “white”, “community”, “love”, “coming”, etc.]

Here is the LGBT+ section of the survey.

Part I: FantasyPart II: Science Fiction

Interesting, huh?

Reblogging because

bisexual characters, women, more asexuality, people of color, body shape and weight variety, LGBT+ protagonists and lead characters, well developed characters, diverse LGBT+ issues, equality, happy endings, more LGBT+ characters.

…is what I’m working on now, for book three. Like, all of it. 😛

Sometimes I feel bad that 90% of the fiction I consume is fanfic.

Then I see stuff like this and am like ‘No problems with any of the above, go fic!’
