Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer (Father of the atomic bomb)
Truly the face of a haunted man.
Here is something we may never be able to look back on and judge good or bad. As of now, fourteen minutes past eleven pm Greenwich Mean Time, twentieth of Febuary two thousand and twelve, it remains a good thing he did. The nuclear bomb turned what would have been world war three until a far, far less bloody stalemate until the possibility of war just fizzled away. It was the deciding moment for mankind, the first step towards adulthood as a species. So far, we have made good of Oppenheimer’s legacy.
I suppose it is both reassuring and disturbing to know that if we hadn’t, no one would be around to judge his decision anyway.
